About Safety Star Program
Recognizing the part all of us play into building a safety culture where we work, GEAPS is proud to launch a new program to recognize the folks who, every day, work to make sure we all stay safe and go home to our families at the end of each shift.
GEAPS Safety Star Program, launching this summer, will celebrate these vital employees who in big and seemingly small ways build safety culture, whether or not the word “safety” is in their title.
GEAPS Safety Star Program will recognize folks who:
- Have identified a safety risk and proposed a solution to reduce the risk.
- Are a good safety mentor to coworkers by helping others with training or being a good example.
- Demonstrated leadership to reach a resolution in a crisis situation.
Anyone can nominate Safety Stars. It can be a supervisor, safety manager or even a contractor working with the grain facility. Nominators do not need to be a member of GEAPS. This nomination will be open all year and there will be multiple winners.
GEAPS Safety Stars will receive a gift from GEAPS and be featured as a Safety Star in In-Grain. Their story will be shared with the hope it will inspire others to build the safety culture. While the name is familiar, the GEAPS Safety Star program is not replacing GEAPS Safety Awards Program. This is yet another way GEAPS will work to keep its members safe. GEAPS’ Safety Awards program will continue to recognize the facilities with no lost time or recordables on an annual basis. GEAPS’ Safety Star keeps the momentum going throughout the year while building safety culture at each work site. Individuals who help build the safety culture at their location will be recognized throughout the year.
